MPD Reports: Woman claims daughter was kidnapped, husband was controlled from Arkansas and she was extorted by a gummy bear

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 19 – 25, 2026. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Damage to Property – King St. – In reference to the complainant reporting her son allegedly damaging her vehicle the previous night. Report taken.
• Disabled Vehicle – E Marable/Gatewood. Roadway checked from N Broad.
• Other Law – Tall Oaks Ln – In reference to getting belongings from the apartment. Officers stood by to prevent any domestic dispute.
• Theft – Harris St- Married residents on location accusing each other of stealing property. Marital property explained. Improper use of 911 also explained as we have been dispatched to the location nine times in the last 30 days for non-police matters.
• Vehicle Accident – Hwy 138 @ Hwy 78 Entrance Ramp – In reference to a passenger car versus a semi-truck. Turned over to GSP.
• Vehicle Unlock – S Broad Street: Walgreens – Vehicle unable to be unlocked.
• Disabled Vehicle – W. Spring / White Oak Ln. – Vehicle broke down in the roadway. I was able to push the vehicle into a parking lot where the owner will either get it fixed or have it towed.
• Vehicle Lockout – Pavilion Pkwy @ Petsense – In reference to Hyundai Elantra. Vehicle opened, no damage.
• Juvenile Complaint – King St- Juvenile committed battery against a family friend. Juvenile has DFACS and criminal case pending. Intake was not approved and the juvenile was taken to Ridgeview for a behavior health evaluation at her parent’s request. Juvenile complaint completed.
• Suspicious Vehicle – A Tanglewood Dr- Non-resident vehicle parked in complainant’s driveway. Vehicle not stolen and resident was told to contact landlord.
• Civil Issue – Douglas Street – In reference to complainant stating that subject was taking his property as she was attempting to move out. Report taken.
• Dispute – Ridge Rd – In reference to a dispute over a dog. Situation mediated and parties separated.
• Accident – Michael Etchinson Rd / Zaxby’s – Two vehicle minor accident. Gears report completed.
• Suspicious Person – McDaniel St- Three juveniles looking in windows and asking for money. Juveniles located and identified.
• Vehicle Accident – Hwy 138 @ Checkers – In reference to a two vehicle private property accident. GEARS report completed.
• Follow Up – Ridge Rd – Reference previous call. Civil process of eviction explained again to residents on location.
• Follow Up – Ridgeview- Reference previous call- Ridgeview rejecting juvenile. Spoke with the clinical director and juvenile was received.
• Damage to Property – McDaniel St – Complainant advised rear driver’s side window was broken. Nothing inside the vehicle was disturbed. Landscape Company was there earlier in the day cutting near her vehicle. Complainant making contact with the landscape company to see if they caused or saw the damage. Report completed.
• Damage to Property – S Broad Street: Well Fargo ATM – In reference to a vehicle backing into a pole. Report taken.
• Dispute – E Spring Street: Popeye’s – Manger requested a criminal trespass be issued to a customer and the owner later rescinded
• Vehicle Accident – MLK / Michael Etchinson – Two vehicle accident with no injuries. GEARS report completed.
• Dispute – Harris Street – In reference to subject disputing with her husband and son on location. Subject was transported to Advantage Mental Health in Athens after expressing the desire to stab her husband, striking her son and attempting to overdose on meds.
• Found Property – Plaza Drive – In reference to a black purse found with a named subjects Social Security, Birth Certificate and other items. Items were placed into evidence.
• Civil Dispute – Wheel House Ln – In reference to a subject trying to get his belongings. Caller advised they got their stuff prior to units arriving on scene. Contact made with current residents who advised everything was okay.
• 911 Hang-up – GW Carver – Accidental dial from the grandchildren. All okay on location.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W Highland / Day Street – In reference to a male subject on a moped with no helmet. Negative contact.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W Highland Ave / Day St – Complainant called in stating a moped was being driven on the roadway by a male with no helmet. Area check conducted but the moped rider was gone when officers arrived.
• Sexual Assault – Walton County Sheriff’s Office Lobby- Female victim alleging she was sexually assaulted at the Walton County DFACS building by the security guard. Report taken and CID notified.
• Accident/Arrest – Hwy 138 & Hwy 78 on Ramp – In reference to a two vehicle accident with complaint of injuries. The passenger of the not at fault vehicle was showing a FTA warrant out of Social Circle, Ga. She was taken into custody without incident and turned over to Deputies at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. GEARS report completed.
• Dispute – Ridge Rd. – In reference to subject reporting he was locked out of the residence by other residents. Remedies were advised and subject was allowed back inside.
• Vehicle Accident – North Broad Street, Hwy 78 Ramp- In reference to a two vehicle accident, minor damage, no injuries, report taken in GEARS.
• Dispute – Fawnfield Dr. – In reference to an unknown complainant calling and then advised all was ok. Negative contact made at the residence, all appeared ok. No signs of disturbance.
• Mental Person – Knight Street – Complainant calling to report that her daughter was kidnaped in 2016, her husband was being controlled by someone in Arkansas, and she was being extorted by a gummy bear. Upon arrival on scene, the dispatched lot did not exist. No further contact with the complainant was successful.
• Hit and Run – Hwy 138 at W Spring St. – In reference to a two vehicle accident. Both complainants were located. GEARS report completed.
• Alarm – Mill Street – In reference to a residential alarm activation. I spoke with the resident of the home who advised that everything was okay.
• Fraud – 140 Blaine St – In reference to the complainant advising his Social Security check was taken from his mailbox and cashed on the 9th of this month by the subject. Complainant advised that he moved prior to his check being mailed out on the 1st of the month and when he went to check the mailbox at his old residence the check was gone. Complainant advised that he was advised by the Social Security Office that subject cashed in his check at the Wells Fargo located in Monroe, Ga. Turned over to CID for further investigation.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Pavilion Pkwy; Marshalls – In reference to the complainant advising of a Ford truck and black GMC Truck doing burnouts in the parking lot. The vehicles were GOA prior to Officers arrival. The area was checked and negative contact was made.
  Suspicious Person – W Spring St – In reference to the complainant advising an older white male wearing a blue Adidas hoodie was making her and her employees uncomfortable. The area was checked and negative contact was made.
• Reckless Driving – East Church Street, Woody Dr- In reference to two vehicles drag racing. Area checked, negative contact.
• Mental Person – Haven Inn – In reference to a named subject on location shouting and having a mental episode. She was strongly advised to return to her room and cease disturbances.
• Business Alarm – Pavilion Pkwy – Back door unlocked, the building was cleared and contact made with the key holder to secure the door. All appeared ok.
• Locked Vehicle – Double Springs Church Rd; MAHS – Vehicle unlocked, no damage observed.
• Alarm – W Spring St; Ollie’s – All windows and doors secured, all appeared ok.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W Spring St; Walmart – In reference to an anonymous complainant advising of a black passenger car with a male sleeping in the vehicle. Contact was made with subject, who advised he was on break taking a nap. All appeared ok.
• Suspicious Person – Ridgeview Institute – In reference to subject returning to location after being discharged and walking around the building looking to make a phone call from inside to get someone to pick him up. A courtesy ride was given.
• Alarm – Jim Dawes Road – In reference to semi-truck driver on location to retrieve a large trailer. Everything okay.
• Mental Patient – Ridge Rd – In reference to the complainant advising people were banging on the doors and windows of her residence. The area was checked and negative contact was made. Complainant’s cousin, who she is currently residing with, was advised of the situation. Remedies advised.
