MPD Reports: Woman falsely reports someone stole money out of her purse but she was seen on video surveillance putting it in her purse herself

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 10 – 17, 2023. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Agency Assist – Highland Creek Drive – Assisting DFCS with a report of a juvenile sexual assault complaint. Contact was made with all parties in question. It was concluded that no crime was committed. All ok on location.
  • Shoplifting – Martin Luther King Jr; Tractor Supply. In reference to a report of shoplifting. The suspect had stolen Two Drills worth $870 and fled on foot. He was found nearby and warrants taken for Shoplifting and obstruction.
  • Dispute – Jack Peters Grocery- In reference to the complainant stating she left her wallet on the counter and then a female stole money out of it. Video footage from inside the store showed the complainant take money out of her wallet and then put the money in her purse after paying, leaving her wallet on the counter. No money was stolen from said wallet.
  • Agency Assist – Davis St in reference to GSP needed assistance on a suspicious person. Turned over to GSP
  • Dispute – Pavilion Pkwy; Planet Fitness – In reference to the complainant stating that a male struck her side mirror causing damage. Report was taken and all parties agreed to have the mirror fixed by the complainant’s repair shop. All ok on location.
  • Citizen Assist – Hwy 83: Subject ran out of gas. Fuel was brought to the location.
  • Civil Dispute – Masters Way – Female complainant advised her so, (who has autism) would not move out of the way of her doing yard work. Mediated
  • County Assist – Checkers – Domestic occurred in the county, subject called stating he was being chased by his girlfriend’s father with a gun along Hwy 78. Contact was made at Checkers on Hwy 138. It was discovered the subject was 14 years old. Walton County Sheriff’s Office handled incident due to incident occurring in WCSO jurisdiction.
  • Agency Assist – Storehouse Ct: Social Circle PD requested MPD issue a criminal trespass warning for a subject in their jurisdiction. They were advised subjects had to be in Monroe for this to occur.
  • Loud Music – Fawnfield Dr. – Area check conducted, negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person – Sorrells St. – In reference to a black male subject in the roadway grabbing himself when vehicles drove by. Subject was located in the parking lot of AL’s Discount Tire, placed under arrest for loitering and possession of marijuana
  • Suspicious Persons – E Spring and Baker, ground of males observed walking in the parking lot of Nationwide. Some of the subjects had hooded sweat shirts and dark clothing. Contact made due to the time frame and clothing to insure no criminal activity was afoot such as entering autos. All ok subjects reside at Monroe Motor Inn.
  • Suspicious Person – Gratis Drywall: Male subject observed on location of the closed business. Contact made to insure no criminal activity was afoot such as loitering or thefts. Subject provided a key to the business.
  • Warrant Service – Breedlove Dr; Ridgeview – Male was taken into custody for his outstanding warrant and transported to WCSO without incident.
  • Suspicious Person – W Spring St; Piedmont Walton- Reference male subject allegedly threatened staff and entered the hospital with a knife on his person. Hospital security wished for him to be trespassed from the property.
  • Hit and Run – W Spring St- Burgundy CR-V vs White Kia. Honda GOA. Owner of Honda was able to be located using FLOCK cameras. Prosecution declined on scene. Report in GEARS.
  • Harassment Report – Blaine St- Complainant advised she was being harassed by an in-law over social media and in person, in regards to her new child. Complainant advised on Temporary Protection Order process.
  • EMS Assist in reference to a male subject who ingested narcotics recently and was having an adverse reaction. Subject was turned over to EMS.
  • Assault report – Chestnut Cupboard – In reference to a fight that took place on 08/13/23 around 1100pm between three subject. After the video footage was secured warrants were taken out on two of the subjects.
  • Suspicious person – E Marable St at Roosevelt St. In reference to a white male sitting on the sidewalk. Negative contact made.
  • Dispute call – Jessica way. In reference to a maintenance worker threatening a maintenance worker with a bat. The subject was arrested and transported to WCSO jail where he was refused medically. He was cited and released for Disorderly Conduct.
  • Other Law – East Spring Street; Motor Inn- Ridgeview staff requested MPD unit standby while she picked up a patient that was dropped off. All Okay.
  • Disturbing the Peace – Oak Street – In reference to loud music, negative contact area check done.
  • EMS Assist – Milledge Ave- In reference to an unresponsive female. Turned over to EMS
  • Threats – Walker Drive- In reference to the subject being blackmailed for money after intimate relations.
  • DUI/Accident – E Marable St near Roosevelt St. In reference to a male subject Driving DUI causing a rollover accident. The subject was cited and released on copies at Piedmont Walton due to his injuries for DUI Less Safe, Open container, Driving on Suspended license, failure to maintain lane, Report taken, GEARS report completed. Vehicle towed by Taylors.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Towler St – Reference to a female subject who said her son refuses to go to school. Made contact with mother and son and advised remedies. Juveniles went to school willingly.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Highway 138; Chick Fil A- Silver Honda Accord with unrestrained juvenile. Vehicle left city limits prior to Officer Contact. WCSO notified.
  • Follow up, Welfare Check – E Spring St; Monroe Motor Inn Reference to welfare check on previous date for a named male subject. Room was occupied by other residents. Subject not on scene.
  • Other Law – Reference to a mother claiming her juvenile son was sexually assaulted by his father. Report taken and sent to CID.
  • Juvenile Runaway – Gatewood Way- 13 year complainant caller. Family is unaware why she called. The 13-uear-old left her grandparents’ home with her mother and is under mother’s supervision.
  • Dispute – Sorrells St- Custody dispute between grandmother and mother. Mother requested grandmother to pick up the child and then closed the door on grandmother. Mother agreed for the child to go with grandmother.
  • Dispute – Jessica Way- Male and female disputing. Situation mediated and parties separated.
  • Damage to Property – Reference to a fence that was damaged by a vehicle that went off the roadway. Vehicle gone when officers arrived. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Highschool Ave – Civil dispute in reference to property lines and lawn care. Situation mediated and remedies were advised.
  • Other Law – Sorrell Street – In reference to a homeowner locked out with the stove on, Turned over to MFD.
  • Child custody – Towler St; In reference to female subject stating her baby father took their one-year-old back to his home in Atlanta. Civil remedies advised. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Carver Place – In reference to a female subject calling about a male refusing to leave. Male was gone when officer arrived, the female advised all okay.
  • Vehicle Pursuit – N Broad St @ Marable St to W. Vine St. Vehicle was failing to maintain lane when attempting the vehicle was driving in a reckless manner, so A PIT was conducted on the vehicle. Subject was arrested for Felony Fleeing, susp. lic, cruelty to children 2nd degree, reckless driving, tag light violation, failure to maintain lane,
