MWCA to host 2021 Monroe Garden Tour on May 15

Are you ready to have your creativity inspired and your senses delighted? If so, Monroe Walton Center for the arts has something special for you this spring – a tour of some of the most beautiful gardens in Monroe!

Attendees will be able to get “an up close and intimate look at some of the prettiest gardens in the community,” 10 in total, seven home gardens in downtown Monroe and the greater Monroe area as well as three unique speciality public gardens.

The garden tour is scheduled for 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 with an alternative severe weather date for the same times on Sunday, May 16.

Tickets go on sale April 1 with an early bird special of $25 through April 30. Early bird purchasers also will be entered in a drawing for a garden-themed gift basket and other prizes! Tickets have to be purchased in person at the Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts at 205 S Broad St. in Monroe. From May 1 to 15 the ticket price will be $30. Purchase of tickets is limited to adults and children over 10. Everyone who enters must have a ticket.

There will be outdoor painters or gardening experts will be in some gardens to demonstrate or answer questions on gardening topics for an “artistic, fun, educational and immersive garden experience!” Walking shoes and comfortable clothing is recommended since this is an outdoor experience.

MWCA is also seeking volunteers. You can help by being a garden tour guide, a plein air painter or by a speaker who is prepared to share your knowledge. Volunteers work for three hours and receive as a thank-you gift and a free ticket to see the tour on their time off.
