Come visit our Walton County High School Show for an astounding glimpse of talent!  This show is open now through April 18.

You’re invited!
Artists Reception on Thursday, April 18 from 6 – 7:30.  Help honor these kids and see who gets the coveted scholarships to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design)!

April 22 – 27 we will host the 10th Congressional District Art Contest.  This show features high school artists from across the 10th district and culminates in an Awards Reception Saturday, April 27 from 11:30 – noon.  Congressman Hice will be here to congratulate the student-artists.  The winning piece is hung in the capitol for a year!


Wondering how you can help? You don’t have to be an artist to be a huge help here!  Call me at 770-207-8937 or email me if you’d like to be placed on a roster to be contacted about any of these volunteer positions.

We are making super nice awards for the Team Up Mentoring Storybook 5K. 80 coasters! Would you like to help glaze these and finish these? A fun volunteer project! We’ll be working on Mondays for the next couple of weeks. Email Rebecca and let her know you can help so she can give you the schedule.

An on-going need here at the Center are Gallery Greeters.  These are folks who serve as a welcoming presence here – often you will be the first person someone meets as they visit.  We have class lists, membership forms, show entry guidelines and general information rack cards you can offer, plus answer questions and perhaps even give a brief tour of this lovely old building.

If you enjoy meeting new people and sharing your love of art and this place, please consider this volunteer opportunity.

We have been blessed with many new volunteers who have stepped up to serve on our board.  Almost all of our committee chairs are filled, but the “Buildings and Grounds” committee still needs filling out.  If you’d like to help out in sprucing up this old building – inside or out – please let us know.  Your interests and skills can certainly be used, whether you’re into gardening, or painting or general upkeep.  We’d like to schedule at least two “Spring Cleaning” days a year here and it would be great to have someone head that up.

One last need … it would be great for each of our kids’ classes to have an assistant to just be there to help out as needed … whether handing out supplies, walking little kids to the restroom or just in general being there to help.

Our special needs classes also need volunteers to assist with those classes, too.

Spring Bouquet Acrylic Painting:
Tuesday, April 16 from 6 – 8.
Instructor: Sarah Smith.Registration has been extended until NOON on Tuesday 4/16.

Paint a pretty spring bouquet to brighten any corner of your home! $32 for members: $37 for non-members.  Includes all supplies. Sip & Paint – BYOB and a snack if you like!  REGISTER HERE

Arts are BLOOMING in April!!
Open Beading Workshop: Saturday, April 20 from 10 am – 5 pm.  Drop by anytime and make as many bracelets as you want for just 6.00 each! We close at 5:00, so be sure to arrive by 4:00 so you can give yourself plenty of time to create! Choose from hundreds of different beads including gemstones, lava rock, wood, clay, porcelain and more. You can add charms for just 1.00 each charm.

Fanciful Clay Garden Art Creatures: Saturday, April 20 – one-hour classes held on the hour from 12 – 4.  Create a whimsical clay bird, cat or dog for your garden or patio with the expert help of Rebecca Braswell.  $25 for members; $30 for non-members all supplies included.  Pre-registration appreciated – email Rebecca at  If you find you can make it at the last minute – that’s ok, too.  You can also drop-in on the hour at noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, or 4:00.  All ages (kids – adults!) welcome.

Pop Up Cards I:  Tuesday, April 23 at 12 – 3 pm.  Instructor: Maria Ramos.  Learn pop-up papercraft techniques.  Maria will teach the “slide” and classic “pop”.  We will finish two cards and start you on the road to building your own pop-up book. Please bring scissors, x-actor knife, triangle or small T-square, and different weights of paper.  $30 for members; $35 for non-members plus $10 supply fee to pay Maria at time of class.  Register by 4/21.  REGISTER HERE

Floral Design: Saturday, April 27 at 2 – 4 pm.  Learn professional floral design from 11-year professional floral designer, Maria Ramos.  Learn design, flower care and more to get the most out of your arrangements.  $15 for members; $20 for non-members.  Please bring your own flowers, container, paring knife and stem cutter and a supply fee of $5.  If you want Maria to supply the flowers and a container the supply fee is $25.  Please bring cash for the supply fee to the class.  Register by 4/25.  REGISTER HERE

TEENS ONLY Beading After Dark: Saturday, May 4 from 7 – 10 pm with Julie Bell. This Teen’s Night Out is only for teens. They can be dropped off at 7:00 and picked up at 10:00. Guests may bring snacks and drinks if they would like. For this workshop you will be making 3 bracelets or anklets of your choice! You will have hundreds of beads to choose from. We will be beading in the gallery, surrounded by art! We will also be playing music that the guests choose. Cost is 25.00 for members and 30.00 for non-members. (A great perk for becoming a member by the way). Pre-registration is required.  REGISTER HERE

  • This is a JURIED show: This means that we will have a panel of jurists to decide which pieces are allowed into the show.  Not all pieces may be accepted into the show; application fee is non-refundable.

  • Show judge: Alyson Vuley, Educational Programs Manager,  Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University
  • Reception: Thursday,  May 23 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm
  • Pick up dates: June 14 – 15.
  • Fee: $35 for up to three pieces.
Summer ART Camp registration is open!!
In June and July 2019, we offer four weeks of mixed media camps; plus one week of clay camp.Mixed Media Camps will be age-appropriate for ages 5 – 8 and 9 – 12. These camps will offer a wide range of exposure to different mediums.  Our focus this year will be on Space; we are creating a Galaxy Gallery that will be in progress through all camps and open to the public.  The kids will create projects that they will bring home but also work together as a group to create community artwork for the gallery.  Our Camp Instructors are all experienced art teachers.  These camps will feature  projects that will expand your child’s artistic abilities! Each camp will offer different projects.

We also offer CLAY CAMP.  Both hand-built and wheel-thrown pieces will be created in clay.

ALL Camps are $135 per week for members; $145 per week for non-members.  Pay for your camp first  After we receive your payment we will email you a Google Form to fill out on-line to complete your registration.

Techniques and Traditions

Fiber Show
August 7 – October 22

This is a juried show. This means that works must be submitted ahead of time via email/photos to our jurists who will decide which pieces are accepted into this show. Not all works may be accepted into the show. Entry fee is non-refundable.

  • Accepting submissions April 1 – June 15, 2019.
  • Notification of accepted works will be emailed the week of July 1
  • Drop off accepted works – August 1 – 3.
  • Show opens August 7 and closes October 22.
  • Reception: Thursday, September 12 @ 6 – 7:30 pm.
  • Pick up – October 23 – 24.

SUBMISSION & DEADLINE: Entries must be made to OnlineJuriedShows.comby June 15, 2019. All information about entries can be obtained through the web site. Check out their helpful videos HERE.  You will pay your fee through OnlineJuriedShows and submit your photos for your works that you’d like to enter.

FEE: $35 for up to three entries

Eligibility: Any artist. Works must be made of fiber or using a fiber technique.

Volunteer Orientation
Our next Volunteer Orientation is Saturday,  May 11 at 1pm.  Volunteers are needed to act as assistants in our special needs classes.  Please email Shay Youngblood, our coordinator for these classes, if you would like to be placed on our volunteer list to contact when our special needs classes are scheduled.
