Obituary and funeral arrangements: Doris ‘Dot’ Queen Peters, 96, of Walton County

Doris (Dot) Queen Peters died Saturday evening following a brief illness. She was born September 22, 1921 to Huley and Maggie Queen spent her entire life in Walton County. She was the oldest of nine children (Martha, R.H., Jean, Geneva, Marion, Bob, Kelley, and Jackie). In 1938 she married Malcom (Mac) Peters and they were husband and wife for 74 years before his death in 2012. They were faithful members of Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rutledge Methodist Church and after Mac’s death, she joined her family at Harmony Baptist. They worked together in the construction business and built numerous houses in Monroe and Walton County. Although they had no children, they opened their home and their hearts to numerous children in their neighborhood. Dot is survived by two sisters, Geneva Peters of Monroe; and Marion Keesee of Monroe; and three brothers, Bob Queen of Monroe, Kelley Queen of Grayson, and Jackie Queen of Social Circle.
Visitation will be held at Tim Stewart Funeral Home: 209 South Hammond Dr. Monroe, GA 30655 770-267-2594 on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Brant Callaway will officiate. She will lie in state from 1-2 PM at the church.
