George (Sonny) Doster Jr, 72, passed away peacefully at his Monroe home on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018. He was born on March 14th, 1946 in Monroe, GA to the late George Sr. and Dorothy Doster.
Sonny was a life-long resident of Monroe and will be remembered as a devoted husband, amazing father and grandfather, impactful teacher and friend to many. He graduated from Monroe Area High School and received his BBA degree from Oxford-Emory and Education degree from Georgia State University. Sonny, finding his love of teaching later in life, retired after teaching 25 years at Loganville High School.
He will best be remembered for his devotion to his family, his ability to make you smile and make people feel special. He used those God given talents to teach and mentor students and nurture a family that loved him fiercely.
Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Anita, his two sons Chip (Sarah) and Geoff (Buffey) Doster, his 7 grandchildren; Kiley, Luke, Mason, Merit, Lilly, Kate and Max Doster and his sister Debbie Adams and niece Stacey Preston.
Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Monroe on Friday August, 3rd from 3:00-5:00 pm followed by a celebration of his life at 5 pm also at the church.
