Obituary and funeral arrangements: Jerry ‘Papa’ Williams, 72, of Monroe

Jerry “Papa” Williams, age 72 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lillian Pearl Williams; son, Jason Thomas Williams; sister, RuthAnn Williams; and brothers, Larry Joe Williams and Jacob Earl Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Susan Williams; daughters & sons-in-law, Stevie Bradley and her husband Richard, Julie Askew and her husband Travis, Jenny Hornbuckle and her husband Billy Joe, and Stacy Williams Cole and her husband Patrick; 14 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Allen, Blair, Elsie Pearl, Ashton, Matt, Amber, Trevor, Tyler, Braidyn, Patrick, Dylan, and Chance; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Williams; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Jerry was retired from Bellsouth after 37 years of dedicated service. He was an Army Reserve Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church of Loganville. He was active in the widow’s ministry and the Ministry Village. He also was involved in girls fast pitch softball and held many positions with the league over the years. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an active member of All Seasons Sportsmen’s Club of GA. Jerry loved to barbeque with his family and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry “Papa” Williams will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. Burial will follow to Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation 60 East 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022 or Lung Cancer Research Foundation 155 East 55th Street Suite 6H, New York, NY 10022.
