Obituary and funeral service: Battalion Chief Chris Baggett, 39, of Monroe

Battalion Chief Chris Baggett, age 39, of Monroe, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mema and PawPaw Shepard. He is survived by his wife, Kim; two sons, Kaden and Darian; Mom and Stepdad, Anita and Tim Poole; Dad and Stepmom, Clarence and Sherlon Baggett; grandmother, Lola Boyd; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Marie Baggett; sister and brother-in-law, Brandi and Brady Cook; nephews and nieces, Lyle and Colton Cook, Lane, Raylynn and Jackson Baggett; uncle and aunt, Chris and Susan Shepard; cousin, Kaylor Shepard and numerous extended family members.
Chris was a native of Gwinnett County, and a 1999 graduate of Dacula High School. He volunteered at the Barrow County Fire Department prior to joining the Gwinnett County Fire Department. He was a 17-year employee of Gwinnett County Fire Department. He graduated top of his class at the Fire Academy and rose through the ranks to become Battalion Chief.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Barrow Ministry Village, PO BOX 1879 Winder, GA 30680, in memory of Chris Baggett.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Chief Chris Baggett will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tom M. Wages Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday, October 11, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
