With deepest sorrow, we announce that Devonne Joseph Neal, Sr., age 46, of Monroe, Georgia, our most beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, family member and friend passed suddenly on Friday, June 25, 2021 while at home.
Those who knew Devonne, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. Devonne was born on July 15, 1974. Devonne was raised in Queens, New York. Most importantly, Devonne had a deep love for his family, and cherished the time they would spend together playing practical jokes on each other and enjoying family time.
You could always catch him telling some sort of joke or making up a rhyme to bring laughter and light to any situation.
Devonne was also an avid basketball player. His “swift” moves and team playing on the court exemplified his winning mentality. Devonne wanted to be “just like Mike.”
Devonne was also a protector. He grew up in a house filled with women and when his grandfather, Leonard Jackson was at work, he swiftly took the duties of being the man of the house to ensure all of the family was safe and assisted them in any way that he could.
He was a Mechanic working at the Gwinnett County Yellow River Water Reclamation Center through the Gwinnett County Water Department. Devonne enjoyed fishing with his kids, taking family vacations and completing small tasks around the house. He spent his time with his family and cherished the simple things in life. He will be deeply missed by his family.
