Leroy Wason, 84 of Loganville, GA, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family on Friday, December 13, 2024. A native of Barbados, Leroy worked for Ford McEnearney, a major car dealership in Barbados before moving to Boston in the 60’s. Once in Boston, Leroy started a career at Stop & Shop where he worked for many years before working as a technician for Ricoh Copier Company where he stayed until his retirement.
Leroy cherished the love of his life “Ellie” with whom he had two children, Richard and Brian. Together Leroy and Ellie worked hard to save and create a legacy for their family purchasing homes in Boston, Florida and Barbados. He is fondly remembered as a hard-working family man with an infectious smile. Leroy was a loyal friend with an awesome personality, always happy to give rides to people who needed one, even missing out on hitting the local numbers because he had given a friend a ride home. Before moving to Georgia he enjoyed spending time with his closest friends Frank Grant, Jeffrey Yarde and others. Leroy loved to sing in his church choir, take care of his lawn and watch cricket, tennis, NASCAR and horse racing. He always made sure his family was well taken care of and every time he got paid he’d say “Ellie, the money is upstairs”. He also loved sitting with his family and having dinner together but wouldn’t eat until he had both a fork and knife in front of him.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elenia Wason of Loganville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jocelyn Wason of Loganville, GA, Brian and Charice Wason of North Providence, RI; grandchildren, Justin, Jacob and Joshua Wason; sister, Sheila Wason.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home.
