On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Richard E. Nicholson Sr., passed away at the age of 74. Richard (Nick) was preceded in death by his father Eugene and mother Mary Jane Nicholson, as well as his first-born child.
Richard was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. His childhood memories of growing up on Ball Park Drive in Tucker, Ga. were very special to him. A graduate of Tucker High School in 1964, Richard was a retired electrician who worked for Owens Brockway for almost 30 years. He loved to fish, play the piano, guitar, violin, and any other musical instrument you put in front of him. He raised his family in Dacula, Ga. where he resided for 30 years. He was passionate about his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years Paula Nicholson of Monroe, GA. He is also survived by his sons Richard “Bo” Nicholson Jr. of Mansfield, TX, Jason Adams and his wife April of Dacula, GA, Michael Nicholson of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Holly Oxley and her husband Todd of Bethlehem, GA. His sisters, Shirley Harris and her husband John of Spartanburg, SC, Linda Jackovitch of Monroe, GA, sister-in-law Laural Wood and brother-in-law Kenneth Wood. Twelve grandchildren: Brittany Parker (Tommy, spouse), Nick Oxley (Megan, spouse), Taylor Nicholson, Kara Nicholson, Justin Jonte (Kaitlyn, spouse), Ben Oxley (Christina, spouse), Kyle Nicholson, Alex Jonte, Kylie Adams, Hailey Nicholson, Jansen Adams, and Madison Nicholson. Eight great grandchildren: Riley Brack, Wyatt Nicholson, Wyatt Oxley, Peter Parker, Sawyer Partowidjojo, Elliana Jonte, Aubree Oxley and another great grandchild on the way, Logan Oxley. Nephews: Ronnie Moulder, Jeff Moulder, John Phillips and Nieces: Tammy Phillips and Shannon Moulder.
A funeral service honoring the life of Richard will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 23rd from 11:00am-2:00pm at the funeral home.
