Shawn Paul Gower, age 50, of Loganville passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Shawn was born November 11, 1975, in Ravenna, OH. He was the elder son of Louis and Edwina Gower and brother to Shane Gower.
He lived in Akron, Ohio for the first 43 years of his life. He was very adored by the friends and family that he had in Ohio. He served in the US Navy Reserves in his young adult life. He was a talented bartender who took pride in his craft and had a natural gift for making people feel welcome. He was truly a jack of all trades. If he set his mind to something, he would do it. From construction, to cooking and baking, to crafts – there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He was extremely detailed oriented and that is one thing that never changed in him.
Shawn spent the remaining 7 years of his life mostly in Georgia. During his time in Georgia, he grew in his career and the connections he made while living here. He briefly moved to Florida and had one of the best years of his life living there with his friend, Amber.
In June of 2026, Shawn was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Through the pain of cancer and treatments, Shawn was still positive and made everyone around him smile. Cancer did not define Shawn in his final moments, his impact on everyone’s lives is what defines him. Shawn will be remembered for his heart – full of kindness, grace, and openness to love so many people. He was someone who was always willing to help, any way that he could. He was truly a special light that touched everyone who had the honor to know him. He has been made whole again in the arms of Jesus and what a beautiful reunion that must be.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Visitation will be held for one hour prior.
Shawn is preceded in death by his father, Louis Paul Gower, and grandparents Kay & Robert L Gower and Lucille & Robert Carter. He is survived by his mother, Edwina, his brother, Shane, and a very loving extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, GA, or to your local YMCA in honor of Shawn. Shawn loved helping children and being a positive role model to them.
