Obituary and funeral services: Betty Piper Buice, 91, of Monroe (formerly of Loganville)

Betty Piper Buice, age 91, of Monroe, GA, formerly of Loganville, GA entered into rest on Friday, December 20, 2019. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bobby L. Buice on March 24, 2013. She is survived by four children, son and daughter-in-law, Chaplain Terry L. Buice (Elaine) of Hoschton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Buice Bottoms (Bob) of Loganville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Buice Childs (Jim) of Winder, GA; and son and partner, Kevin Buice (John Foley) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren;; as well as other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Buice was also preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Oril Piper and Lessie Bee Nolan Piper.

Mrs. Buice was born in Decatur, GA on March 24, 1928. She lived for forty years in Loganville, GA and attended Decatur High School. Mrs. Buice started working as a beloved Nurse’s Aide on the first day that DeKalb General Hospital opened. She served the nurses, doctors and patients there for ten years. She loved working in her yard caring for her flowers. She loved all types of flowers and was even known to cut large trees down in the yard. Mrs. Buice was dedicated and took great pride in keeping her home a warm and cozy place to raise her family. When health issues began to arise, Mrs. Buice’s doctor recommended she become more active, so, Mr. Buice being the loving and dedicated husband he was, would drive her to Loganville High School and sit in the stands, while she walked the track. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will truly be missed by her family.

A private family graveside service honoring Mrs. Buice’s life will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Snellville, GA with her son, Chaplain Terry L. Buice officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date at First Baptist Church of Auburn, GA with Chaplain Terry Buice officiating.
