Obituary and funeral services: Christina ‘Christi’ Murphy Russell, 51, of Monroe

Christina “Christi” Murphy Russell, age 51, of Monroe, died on February 5, 2018. She was born in Decatur, GA on May 15, 1966 to Glenda Golden New and John William “Bill” New, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Scott Russell of Monroe; sons, Collin “Bear” Murphy of Monroe, Taylor Murphy of Monroe; Jarrett Russell of Monroe; and brother and sister in law, John Anthony “Tony” and Crystal New of Monroe; nieces, Caitlyn New, Lauren Lynam, and Olivia Lynam of Monroe.

Christi was a graduate of South Gwinnett High school, class of 1984. She worked for Kubota for 23 years, and completed her career there as an IT tech in 2008. She often enjoyed visiting The Orchard Church in Loganville.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bland officiating. Interment followed at Loganville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
