Dave Sykes, age 65 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Anna’s Catholic Church at 2 PM on December 11, 2017. Father Daniel R. Toof will serve as Celebrant.Dave graduated from Norview High School and had attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. He was a member of several Rotaries, the Chamber of Commerce, and the BNI. He retired from Charleston Hosiery in Cleveland, TN and worked for Belk in Athens, and most recently the Better Business Bureau serving the Metro Atlanta Area. He was a “Die Hard” Georgia “Bulldawg” Fan.
Dave is survived by his Wife of 46 years: Nancy Sykes of Monroe; Children: David “Jason” & Susan Sykes of Monroe; Nikki & Mark Smolarsky of Highlands, NC; Grandchildren: Cali Smolarsky, Caden Smolarsky, Sarah Sykes, Alex Sykes, Cane Smolarsky; Sister & Brother-in-law: Melinda & Jorg Glaubke of Norfolk, VA; Nieces & Nephews: Erika & Evan Bowling of Lynchburg, VA; Jessica & Kyle Forrand of Castaic, CA.
