Obituary and funeral services: Dorothy G. (Jerri) Hall

Jerri Hall died on Sunday, June 24, 2018. She was born on January 12, 1928, the youngest daughter of Math L. & Valle Ellen Toler in Soperton, GA. Jerri spent most of her life in Soperton, GA moving to Monroe, GA in 1999 to be near her children in the Atlanta area.

After graduating from high school in 1947, Jerri moved to Macon where she was employed with AT&T. Soon afterwards, she met her husband, William H. (Bill) Hall, and they were married in March 1948, residing in Soperton all their married life.

Jerri was active in the community and was a member and former president of the Soperton Garden Club and was a member of the Soperton United Methodist Church, serving on the Parsonage Committee for many years. Jerri played bridge for decades with several groups in Soperton and continued her love of bridge when she moved to Monroe and played well into her 80’s. She continued her community involvement in Monroe as a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and the Monroe Garden Club. An avid gardener, she maintained beautiful gardens at her homes and was particularly proud of her manicured box woods.

She shared her love of reading with all her children and was the author of Sweet Magnolia Love, a romance novel she penned that was published in 1991. As a mother, she devoted much of her time to the care of her son, Gary. Over the years, many hours, days and weeks were spent in Augusta at University Hospital and in Atlanta at Emory Hospital due to Gary’s medical condition. As many have said about her, she deserves a star in her crown for her dedication to him. It was because of her commitment that Gary is able to enjoy his life today.

In addition to her parents, Jerri is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William H. Hall and her two brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her children, Emmett Hall (Doris) of Monroe, Gary Hall of Monroe and Cynthia Chandler (Dr. Scott) of Lawrenceville, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Jerri requested that any remembrance be made with a donation to the Monroe United Methodist Church, Soperton United Methodist Church or the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 26th at 2:00 p.m.at Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Margaret Adams and Rev. Dr. Dane Wagner officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Soperton on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
