Obituary and funeral services: Ermine Toney Davis, 85, of Monroe

Ermine Toney Davis, 85, of Monroe, GA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 24th, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Ermine was born on June 28, 1933 in the same house she grew up in on Broad Street in Monroe. She met the love of her life, Carl W. Davis Jr. (C.W) of Bold Springs, while playing the piano at Walker Baptist Church. They were married 63 plus years. Ermine was an accomplished pianist who used that talent playing for multiple gospel quartets, the pianist of Mt. View Baptist Church and playing before the morning services at Monroe Baptist Church. Ermine and Carl were members of Avondale First Baptist Church for over 40 years where Ermine was the church clerk for many years.

Ermine’s talent for decorating cakes led to her catering over 30 weddings for many happy couples. She enjoyed traveling and with Carl at her side they visited many different states, and several different countries. Ermine’s true joy in life was taking care of her family.

Ermine was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Adams Toney and Jett Toney of Monroe, GA and her only brother, Virlyn Toney of Winder.

Ermine is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Davis; daughter, Lori (Brian) Burnham of Cartersville, GA; son, Judson (Lynn) Davis of Soddy Daisy, TN; six grandchildren, Zachary Burnham, Elise, Jonathan, Christopher, Abbey and Alexa Davis; two nieces, Jana Toney and Jeannie Warbington; sister-in-laws, JoAnn Toney and Audrey Granade; and multiple cousins.

Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home at 760 Highway 11 SE, Monroe, GA on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm with a graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery at 200 North Madison Avenue, Monroe, GA at 3:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
