Obituary and funeral services: Joseph ‘Joe’ Snell, 81, of Monroe

Joseph “Joe” Snell, age 81, of Monroe, GA, passed away at his home Friday, February 16, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Snellville United Methodist Church. Dr. Jim Cantrell, Dr. Phillip DeMore, Rev. Jerry Peele, and Rev. Roger Canuel will officiate. The Snellville High School Class of 1954 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Joe was a graduate of Snellville High School Class of 1954. He attended Young Harris College and Southern Tech, and also served 6 years with the Georgia National Guard. Joe retired in 1989 from the Georgia Department of Transportation with 34 years of service. He was a past member of Snellville United Methodist Church and a current member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church Monroe. Joe was also a member of Snellville Masonic Lodge #99 F & AM. He was preceded in death by Daughter: Jenny Lynn Snell; and Parents: Tom and Grace Brooks Snell. Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years: Nancy Snell; Daughter and Son in Law: Sheri & Richard Rollins of Monroe; Son & Daughter in Law: Joe T. & Kimberly Snell, III, Flagler Beach, FL; Brother and Sister in Law: Fred & Pat Snell of Snellville; Grandchildren: Jessica & Chaz Gibson of Rutledge, JT & Bronwyn Snell, IV of Canton, Trey & Laura Rollins of Good Hope, Cameron Snell of Loganville, Chandler Snell of Loganville, Thomas Rollins of Monroe, and Mikaylie Snell of Loganville; Great Grandchildren: Maeleigh Gibson of Rutledge, Charlie Gibson of Rutledge, Archer Snell of Canton,
and Elsie Rollins of Good Hope; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge Helping Hearts Hospice and his Personal Care Giver, Debbie Goins, for their outstanding care and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 2625 Pannell Road, Monroe, GA 30655. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Snellville United Methodist Church.
