Obituary and funeral services: Mackenzie Dawn Howard, 17, of Covington

Mackenzie Dawn Howard, of Covington, Georgia, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 6th, 2018 at the age of 17. She was born on October 17th, 2000. Mackenzie was a member of Corinth Christian Church and very active in her youth group. Her love, devotion, and compassion for The Lord was astonishing on many levels. Those are excellent Godly qualities that she extended to everyone, regardless of their age. Mackenzie loved everyone, from very young children to the elderly just the same. She truly had a beautiful soul inside and out, with such a sweet and compassionate heart. She had a fierce desire to help anyone in need, including traveling on mission trips in which she built homes, fed the hungry, and many other service projects. Mackenzie’s desire to help those in need led to many countless prayers. She was truly a faithful and loyal servant of God.
Mackenzie was a junior at Walnut Grove High School in Loganville, Georgia. She found joy in playing soccer for Blue Springs Soccer Association, exploring her passion for photography, and cheering for her Georgia Bulldogs. She liked horses and loved spoiling her dogs, Zoey and Lady. She had a special place in her heart for the beach and beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as they illustrated God’s magnificent artwork. More than anything, Mackenzie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Heather Banister, and her best friend Samuel Swaney. She is survived by her mother, Shannon Howard, with whom she held a very special relationship and inseparable bond that words cannot describe, Austin Massey, her grandparents, Buck and Bernice Howard, several aunts and uncles, countless cousins, many friends, as well as her church family and youth group at Corinth Christian Church.
In her selflessness, Mackenzie chose to be an organ donor. Her giving nature and Godly heart have ensured that each recipient will receive the gift of life. This will be her legacy.
As we mourn her untimely passing, may we also rejoice knowing she is in the arms of her Heavenly Father in her glorious eternal home.
