Obituary and funeral services: Norman R. Colbert, Sr. 81, of Walnut Grove

Norman R. Colbert, Sr., age 81, of Walnut Grove, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home.
Mr. Colbert is preceded in death by his parents: Roy C. & Ella Sauls Colbert; brothers: John T. Colbert & Ray Colbert; sister: Edna (Sister) Langley; brother-in-law: John Cannarie; sister-in-law: Doris Knaggs. Norman is survived by his wife of 66 years: Gloria Canarie Colbert; sons & daughters-in-law: Norman R. & Cynthia Colbert, Jr. of MT; Mark & Beverly Colbert of Buford; daughters & sons-in-law: Kathleen (Kathy) & Anthony White of FL; Cheryl (Sherri) M. & Bill Turner of Atlanta; Ginny & Dan Moore of Monroe; Dorie & Gary Colbert-Veal of Ocila; grandchildren and spouses: Crystal & Bruce Tew, Victoria White & Ben Thompson, Charles W. Turner, Laura Turner & Greg Lanterman, Danielle & Lee Copeland, Cass & Melinda Moore, Kelli Colbert; great grandchildren: Vail, Eli, Molly, Abe & Sydney; brother-in-law: Hugh Langley; sisters-in-law: Helen Colbert, Joanie Whiteman.
In his early years Norman enjoyed woodworking & later on he became a member of the Cattlemen’s Association. He worked for the Georgia Railroad for 10 years and then became the owner of Colbert’s Nursery & Garden Center. He enjoyed hunting & archery. Norman was an avid story teller, especially after a hunting trip. Upon Norman’s passing, Harbor Freight Tools noticed a sharp decline in sales.
