Obituary: Anson Lavaughn ‘Bonney’ Mauldin, 96, of Monroe, formerly of Social Circle

Anson Lavaughn (Bonney) Mauldin, born: January 19, 1924, died: May 15, 2020 in Monroe, GA. Age: 96
Bonney was born in Gwinnett County to the late Naaman Bert and Nora Elizabeth McIntyre Mauldin. He was the youngest and last surviving of eleven children. He was married to the late Dallis Mary Lamb Mauldin for 49 years until her death in 1996. He is survived by 2 children, daughter Sandra Anne Mauldin Parson of Douglasville, GA., son and daughter-in-law Gregory Lavaughn (and Carol) Mauldin of Snellville, GA. Granddaughter Cassandra Liane (Cassie) Parson of Jacksonville, AL and Lauren Dallis Mauldin of Snellville, GA. Several nieces and nephews.
Bonney was a man of many talents. He discovered his musical talents early and became a singer and played many musical instruments. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Social Circle where he was a member of the adult choir for many years. He sang in a number of local gospel quartet groups during the 50s thru the 70s. He also tuned and repaired pianos as one of his many talents. Some of his jobs and hobbies included work in the textile industry, bicycle repair, sign painting and artwork, gold leaf sign application on storefront windows, and income tax preparation.
Bonney moved to Social Circle just prior to marrying Dallis Lamb and lived there for approximately 70 years when he became a resident of Park Place Nursing Facility in Monroe, GA.
