Charles Emory Long, age 81 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Wells Long; two children, Matthew (Angie) James Long and Kimberly (Frederick) Long Stelts; and four grandchildren, Connor James Long, Anna Rose Long, Ava Grace Stelts, and Maddox Emory Stelts.
Charles was born in Lawrenceville, GA, to his parents, Edgar & Effie Long. He married Charlotte on October 29, 1965. Charles lived in Stone Mountain, GA, until 1997, and later moved to Monroe, GA. He was a former member of Clarkston United Methodist Church and was a current member of Bold Springs United Methodist Church. Charles entered the plumbing business in 1951, and was owner of Long Plumbing Inc. from 1965-2005. He was also on the Plumbing Board of Dekalb County. He earned a State Heating & Air License. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, Mason, and Shriner.
The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Charles Emory Long was held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Bold Springs United Methodist Church, Monroe, GA. where he laid in state from 1:30 PM until service time. Interment followed at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Grayson, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bold Springs United Methodist Church www.boldspringsumc.org or Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia www.masonichomeofgeorgia.com.
