Dr. Robert “Bob” E. Firth passed away on December 29th, 2020, at 99 years of age. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, December 19, 1921, he is survived by his daughter, Holly Jane Firth; his son, Francis Eugene Firth; wife, Dorothy Peterson; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was last a resident of Great Oaks Assisted Living Center, Monroe, GA where he lived happily with his wife Dorothy. Dorothy and Bob were married on January 11th, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Morna Y. Leouier, and Frances Early.
His legacy was that of an Educator, teaching students Business Administration and Business Law at both the collegiate and graduate level in the Seventh Day Adventist school system.
He graduated from Maplewood Academy, Hutchinson, MN, then served as a Medic in the European theater of World War 2 where he was awarded a Bronze Star. After the war, he graduated from Union College and received a Master’s degree while becoming an educator at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. He went on to receive his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and published his thesis, “Public Power and Irrigation in Nebraska”. He next taught Business Law at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan where he became the Dean of the School of Business and Head of the University Press Publication where he retired. He next moved to Social Circle, GA where he served with the Lion’s Club and other social organization which serve the community.
Robert was a Christian man with strong ties to the Seventh Day Adventist Denomination and always was seeking to serve his Lord to the best of his ability in a meaningful way. Robert accepted the plan of salvation provided by our Savior Jesus Christ and stayed true to his beliefs all his life; even unto the end. He will be missed by all who know him and especially by his family.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
