Obituary: Edward Lewis Almand, III, 82, of Monroe

Mr. Edward Lewis Almand, III, 82, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, following a brief illness. Mr. Almand was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lewis Almand, Jr., and Elizabeth Jordan Almand and a sister, Betty Almand Ulrich. He is survived by a son, Russell Almand and his wife Lisa of Spring Hill, Tennessee; Carol Gay and her husband Duane of Conyers; and Kim Lane and her husband Jeff of Rockmart. He is survived by grandsons, Jeremy Draper, Monroe, Wesley Gay and Matthew Gay of Monroe, granddaughter Lindsey Shoup of Columbia, Tennessee, and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth McKenna Gay of Monroe. He is also survived by his cousins, Ed Legge of Wisconsin, Jordan Legge of Stockbridge, George Legge of Niceville, FL and Sally Stephenson of Frostburg, MD.
Mr. Almand graduated from Monroe High School and attended Emory at Oxford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He spent many years working in the family funeral home, The E.L. Almand Company, of Monroe. A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Monroe.
