Jason Eric Brooks, age 45 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 after a two year battle with stage 4 cancer.
Jason graduated from Shiloh High School ‘94 in Snellville, GA. During his senior year, his classmates voted him “Most Talented” for dramatic performance and fine arts. He continued his education and talents at University of Georgia graduating with a BA in English ‘98, and served as an editorial cartoonist for the student newspaper, The Red & Black. After graduation, Jason served as an ordained minister in his local community leading, teaching, and mentoring all ages. In 2008, he expanded his influence to include writing projects for radio, video, podcasts, magazines, websites, authoring and co-authoring books, and curriculums.
The organizations that Jason’s creativity served include RZIM, North Point Church, Bed Head Media, The Path Project, and 375 Photography. Prior to his death, he remained the Executive Vice President of Content and Publishing for The John Maxwell Company where he contextualized John Maxwell’s leadership principles for the modern day.
In Jason’s personal time, he self- published many memoirs and fiction stories. He is most proud of his self- publication Learning to Write, and his published children’s novel EJ Lee and The Golden Door by Deeds Publishing. He felt honored to serve as an illustrator for the children’s book The Exciting Adventures of Herringbone Tweed and Professor Blue by Brian Reynolds. Jason dabbled in background acting such as Marvel’s Ant-Man, Come Sunday, and The Originals and a few other TV and movie productions. Last, he launched Grayson local, a positive news source for his local community.
Jason was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ruthanne Camille Brooks, in 2004. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Rachel (White) Brooks of Monroe, GA; daughter, Ella Brooks of Monroe, GA; son, Jon Brooks of Monroe, GA; parents, Rickey and Pam (Cox) Brooks of Loganville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Mary Brooks of Loganville, GA; grandmother, Ruby Nell Brooks of Snellville, GA; mother-in-law, Alicia White of Stone Mountain, GA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida and South Carolina; numerous family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church 2299 Rosebud Rd. Grayson, GA 30017. Those in attendance are asked to please wear a mask. If you cannot attend the service, a Facebook live stream is available on Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Facebook page. A private family inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
