Jerry Zane George, age 77 of Loganville, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, after a valiant battle with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Born on April 8, 1947, in Philadelphia, MS, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Evelyn George.
Jerry was a graduate of Dekalb High School and furthered his education at San Bernadino Technical College, where he obtained his certification in A/C and Refrigeration and became a Master Plumber. His career was marked by his expertise as a plumber, mechanic, electrician, and handyman, showcasing his ability to master multiple skilled trades.
A veteran of the Air Force, Jerry served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. His commitment to service continued throughout his life, reflected in his dedication to his community and family.
Jerry was a devout member of St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville, GA, where he actively participated in church activities. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with friends and family, which were sources of great joy and relaxation for him.
He is survived by his wife, Irma George; siblings, Glenn George, Kent George, Ted George, Chris George, Jenny George, and Rhonda Caldwell. Jerry’s life was celebrated with military honors and a Mass at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The ceremony began with military honors at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. A reception at the church followed the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any Veterans Hospital or Charities in honor of Jerry’s commitment to fellow veterans.
Jerry was laid to rest at the church’s Columbarium, ensuring his memory is preserved at a place he held dear.
