Joan Wernecke, age 84 of Loganville, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026. A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, 3200 Brooks Drive, Snellville with Father Ronald Beauchemin, MS presiding. Interment followed at Gwinnett Memorial Park, 925 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville.
Joan was as an active member of St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church and worked as a LPN at Gwinnett Medical Center prior to retiring. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Gary Wayne Wernecke; son, Brian Joseph Wernecke; parents, Victor J. and Della (Given) Gutting. Joan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly (Don) Sivinski of Suwanee and Michelle (Mike) Marchman of Loganville; grandchildren, Sarah (Phil) Cockriel, Noah Sivinski, Amber Marchman, and Christopher Marchman; great grandchildren, Gavin Marchman and Lennon Marchman; many cousins and extended family members.
