Marilyn Carter Etheridge, age 67 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 3, 2025 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Interment followed at Carter Memorial Gardens, 1635 Highway 81, Loganville.
Marilyn retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed taking care of her yard and home. Marilyn was a very caring and loving person and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved putting her two cents in and always had the last word. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Willis Etheridge; grandchild, Elizabeth Perrin; parents, Robert Dean and Lillian Louise (Carter) Newman; sisters, Amanda Dickerson and Hazel Hensley; brothers, Robert Newman and Kenneth Newman.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Marlena (Stanley) Sweeney of Cameron, NC, and Nelson McKenzie, Jr. of Monroe, GA, and Anzlie McKenzie of Monroe, GA; daughter-in-law, Alexandra Browyn Chaney of Monroe, GA; sisters, Paulette Andrews of McComb, MS, Diane Ballard of Hemphill, TX, and Margaret Stockton of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Coral (Michael) Sweeney, Adian Sweeney, and Leah Highwood; several nieces and nephews.
