MERLE JANET BATCHELOR MYERS: of Social Circle, Georgia peacefully passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020, from Complications of Dementia. Her doting granddaughters by her bed; one was holding her hand, while the other sang her favorite church hymn. Merle was formerly from the Snellville area, where she and her late husband, of 59 years, Mr. Harold C. Myers, built a home, were married at and remained active members of Lenora Baptist Church, until physically unable to attend. Merle retired from DeKalb County Public School Systems, after many years of planning and preparing a multitude of healthy meals for the student and staff of DeKalb School Systems. Most of those years spent at Jolly Elementary school, where she took great pride in her career and loved each kid as if they were her own! Merle was preceded in death by her infant son, Philip Keith, and husband, Harold C. Myers, of Snellville, Georgia, her mother and father Westley and Lydia Batchelor of Redan, Georgia. Merle leaves behind her eldest son/wife; David and Belinda Myers of Monroe, Georgia, youngest son/wife; Douglas and Traci Myers of Covington, Georgia, Eldest granddaughter/husband; Christi and Jason Holmes, of Rutledge, Georgia, granddaughter/husband; Caitlin and Colton Bailey of Covington, Georgia, Great-grandchildren; Colton ‘Eli’ Bailey, II, & Charlotte Elise Bailey; Cheyenne Hart Holmes & Waylon ‘Shep’ Holmes. A sister/brother-in-law; Barbara & Franklin Crowe of Redan, Georgia, Sister-in-law Elizabeth Rutledge, of Snellville, Georgia, and Brother-in-law; Neal Jenkins, of Snellville, Georgia, along with numerous nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, fellow co-workers and worshipers.
