Peggy “Gran” Hewatt Cox, of Loganville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was 88 years old. A loving mother and grandmother, Ms. Cox was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. A graduate of Snellville High School, she was known for her kindness, infectious laugh, and sending cards to people to celebrate special occasions. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert “Emit” Cox; her great-granddaughter, Ruthanne Camille Brooks; mother, Eva Gilleland Hewatt; and father, Lloyd Hewatt. She is survived by her son, Tony Cox, of Monroe, GA; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Rickey Brooks of Loganville, GA; daughter, Melanie Cox Grier of Monroe, GA; grandchildren Jamie Cox, Jason and Rachel Brooks, Chris and Natalie Cox Fagan, Ryan and Mary Brooks, T.J. and Emily Cox, Robert Cox, Amanda Grier, Holly Grier, Katie Cox, Hannah Grier and Jared Floyd, in addition to 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Snellville Chapel of the Tim Stewart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 370, Grayson GA 30017.
