Oglethorpe Power donates $3000 to Walton County Boys and Girls Club

Money will fund afterschool membership scholarships and STEM and STEAM programs

(TUCKER, Ga., Oct. 1, 2018) – Oglethorpe Power Corp. recently presented a check for $3,000 to help the Walton County Boys and Girls Club fund free afterschool membership scholarships, as well as afterschool STEM and STEAM programs for youth.

“Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.  Through our partnership with Oglethorpe Power, we are able to better reach our goal of helping those who need us most in Walton County,” states Monica Trimble, senior executive director of the Walton County Boys and Girls Club of North Central Georgia.

Walton County Boys and Girls Club is the closest club to Doyle Energy Facility, in Monroe, GA. The natural gas-powered plant includes five generating units capable of producing about 342 megawatts of electric power.
