At 6 p.m. on Oct.17, 2017 – On Stage, a Walton County community theater, will produce the county’s first-ever one act festival for Walton County public high schools. It will take place at the Walnut Grove High School Auditorium.
Participating schools are Monroe Area High School, Walnut Grove High School and Loganville High School. Tickets are $3 each, and will be available at the door.
The one-act festival is made possible by a grant from the Walton Foundation. The first place winner will receive $1000, second place $750 and third place receive $500 towards their drama program through Walton Foundation and On Stage.
“We hope this is the first of many Walton County One Act Festivals,” said On Stage Artistic Director March Hammes. “We wish all of the schools great success in their one act competitions!”
The three high school drama departments participate annually in the Georgia High School One Act Competitions. Monroe Area High School will be performing a student written piece, Close Enough by Rachel Dabney. Loganville High School will be performing Play the Hand that’s Dealt by Claudia Haas and Walnut Grove High School will perform Wiley and the Hairy Man by Susan Zeder.
