The weather played havoc with most of the local Friday night high school football games last Friday but it looks like things will be better this time around. Besides a weather report that claims it will be dry, it also claims it will be 10 degrees cooler at 81 degrees at the 7:30 p.m. kickoff time. Let’s hope they’re right!
The Monroe Area varsity football team eventually won last week’s home non-conference game on Saturday against Walnut Grove by a score of 42-2. The Hurricanes get a bye week this week before traveling to Madison to take on the Morgan County Bulldogs in a conference game on Sept. 27.
The Walnut Grove Warriors have a non-conference game at home against Apalachee on Friday, Sept. 20.
The LCA Varsity football team conceded the game to Southland Academy out of Americas 13 – 0 on Friday after cutting it short due to the weather. The team travels to Thomasville on Sept. 20 for an away non-conference game vs Brookwood.
George Walton Academy lost 28-21 to Hebron Christian Academy at Dacula after eventually finishing it up on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs are back on the road Sept. 20 for a non-conference game in Hiawassee against Towns County.
Social Circle had a bye week and were able to avoid taking on the weather last week. The team is back on the road on Sept. 20 for a conference game vs Banks County in Homer, Ga.
Loganville also was able to avoid the weather with a bye week. The Red Devils are home this Friday to take on Winder-Barrow in a non-conference game.
