Preview of this week’s high school football games

Two local teams go head to head again this week as Walnut Grove faces off against Monroe Area. Both teams are coming off loses last week.The Warriors varsity football team lost Friday’s home non-conference game against Morgan County 35-14. The team is on the road this Friday, Sept. 13, when they travel to Monroe to take on Monroe Area in a non-conference game.  The Monroe Area Hurricanes will be coming off their first loss of the season after going down to Pace Academy Friday 25-0 in an away non-conference game.

Loganville Christian Academy’s winning streak continued last Friday with a win against Flint River 48 – 7 on their home turf making it three in a row for the Lions. The LCA Varsity football team is back home again on Sept. 13 for a non-conference game vs. Southland Academy out of Americus, Ga.

George Walton Academy also continued its winning streak, winning Friday’s home non-conference game against Stratford Academy out of Macon by a score of 14-10. The Bulldogs are on the road Sept. 13 for a non-conference game vs Hebron Christian Academy out of Dacula, Ga.

Social Circle made up for last weeks loss by taking down Cross Keys out of Atlanta 64 – 0 at home. The Redskins are off this Friday and are back on the road on Sept. 20 for a conference game vs Banks County in Homer, Ga.

After losing to Monroe on Aug. 30 at home the week before, Loganville didn’t fare too well on the road either, going down to the North Oconee Titans 14 – 23 on last Friday. The Red Devils have a week to regroup before taking on Winder-Barrow at home in a non-conference game on Sept. 20.

 If you’re going to support any of the local teams again this week, remember to take lots of fluid to stay hydrated. Temperatures could still be in the 90s at the 7:30 p.m. kickoff and there is a Code Orange air quality alert in force.
