Reports of a large ‘boom’ heard in southern Walton/western Morgan counties

Walton County Fire Rescue responded to reports of an explosion east of Social Circle Sunday evening. WCFR Assistant Fire Chief Craig League said there were reports of a loud “boom” heard somewhere in southern Walton or western Morgan County. He said there were reports on social media of windows rattling and reports of the boom felt all the way in Good Hope, Monroe, Social Circle, Bostwick, and Madison.
“We responded out to the area where the complaint originated from on Knox Circle. Nothing was found,” League said. “No other calls or a fire was reported.”
In the past reports of loud explosions have oftentimes turned out to be Tannerite. In 2016, a Walton County man lost his leg after target shooting at an old lawnmower loaded with Tannerite.
