City of Monroe is notifying motorists that paving will tentatively begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd on Breedlove Drive (starting at West Spring Street). Motorists are urged to be prepared for lane closures and detours as this process moves along the entirety of the street. Intermittent street closing has been going on during the past several weeks to prepare the roads for the final complete paving.
Once the work has been completed on Breedlove Drive, contractors are expected to begin milling Davis Street, Sorrells Street, and the portion of East Marable Street (where utility work has been completed) on Monday, Sept. 15. This will be followed by the paving on Davis Street, Sorrells Street, and East Marable Street (from North Broad Street to the city limits). This schedule may change slightly dependent on weather.
Officials advise that these paving projects are being funded by about $520k from both LMIG and LRA grant funding opportunities, and will provide for just over 4 miles (or 8 lanes) of new asphalt.
