If your holiday spirit isn’t yet in full swing, the 2nd annual walk through the Christmas lights display in Childers Park in Downtown Monroe should help you get there. According to Downtown Monroe officials, this year will feature more light displays throughout the park! “We encourage kids to decorate their favorite bike, stroller, wagon or any other favorite set of wheels to parade through the Christmas lights. Decorated golf carts are even welcome for the big kids.”
The parade will start at 6 pm on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the parking lot behind the Monroe Library. This event is open to kids of all ages and there is no charge to enter.
After this parade, the display will be open to enjoy each evening until the last night of 2019. And while you’re in town, you can stroll through the beautifully lit streets of downtown Monroe to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Candlelight extended shopping hours are now available on a Thursday evening for many stores in town and there are more restaurant options than before to stop in and get a bite to eat before heading home.
Parking is available behind the Monroe Walton County Library located at 217 W. Spring Street.
