The early vote in Walton County’s municipal elections has been slow, except for in the City of Scoial Circle, according to Lisa Clark with the Walton County elections office. Clark said this is fairly typical for an off-primary or presidential election year. However, there is a mayoral election in both Social Circle and in Walnut Grove with more interest seemingly being generated in the Social Circle race.
By noon today, the last official day of early voting, 40 people had voted in Walton Grove, 112 in the Monroe municipal elections, 219 in Loganville and a whopping 444 in Social Circle.
“We have 58 vote in Social Circle the first day early voting opened,” Clark said. Incumbent Mayor Hal Dally is being challenged by former Social Circle City Councilman David Keener. There are also three Social Circle City Council seats on the ballot, two of them contested and two Social Circle City School Board seats.
