
Early this month, members of the Social Circle City Council were on hand to officially open the basketball courts at Burks Field Park, the neighborhood park that This basketball court is one more improvement in this neighborhood park that is being developed to better serve the residents of the area. Located at 205 Vine Circle, Social Circle Councilman Tyson Jackson said the park is being developed in stages.

“It was the old baseball field that the school used. We cut the ribbon on the playground on July 7, 2018,” Jackson said. The Mayor and City Council allocated funds for the conversion of this area for a community park, with playground, basketball courts, so far. There is more to come.
Jackson shared a plan of the park that now has the basketball courts open as well. The Social Circle Kiwanis Club has taken on the improvement of Burks Park as a community service project. The basketball goals were purchased with grant funds provided by the Walton County Healthcare Foundation and staff of the City Public Works and the Police Department invest time and care in the park, along with area residents who help supervise the use of the park and keeping it clean and safe.
