Social circle has distracted driving re-enactment in advance of Prom

On Tuesday April 24th the juniors and seniors at Social Circle High School were given a “Reality Wreck” simulation in the parking lot at Social Circle High School. This was done in coordination with the SCHS, Safe Walton and the Social Circle Police Department.

This is done each year in advance of prom season at one of the local high schools, “but we’ve added a little twist,” said Social Circle Police Chief Tyrone Oliver. “We have pre-recorded a jail scene with the driver being locked up for distracted driving. We’ve also filmed a courtroom scene with Judge (Eugene) Benton, which shows the consequences that could result if we choose to text and drive or are distracted in some way. We also have a hospital scene and a graveyard scene.”

Oliver said that the students went inside following the re0enactment and got to see the follow up to see that it doesn’t just end with the accident. That is just the beginning of the impact to many lives. A video of the actual re-enactment was put together by Darrell Everidge of Walton Entertainment (see below). This will be updated when the “after the accident” scenes are added.
