SR 316 turn restrictions & new Exit 19 open Oct. 13

Gainesville, GA – Georgia Department of Transportation contractor G. P. Enterprises plans to implement a traffic shift at SR 316 and SR 211/Patrick Mill Road on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The changes are part of project 0010555 and will introduce new travel patterns using the interchange bridge, roundabouts and ramps.

Motorists should prepare for the following changes:

SR 316 Eastbound — Toward Athens

The left-turn lane from SR 316 eastbound to SR 211 north/Patrick Mill Road north will close. Drivers traveling toward SR 211 north, Patrick Mill Road north or Tom Miller Road must turn right at the existing SR 316 and Patrick Mill Road traffic signal.

After turning right, drivers will travel approximately 1,900 feet to a stop-controlled T-intersection and turn left onto Patrick Mill Road.

  • At the first roundabout, take the first exit for Tom Miller Road or the second exit to continue toward SR 211 north/Patrick Mill Road north and the new SR 316 eastbound entrance ramp.
  • At the second roundabout, take the first exit for the new SR 316 eastbound entrance ramp or the second exit to continue toward SR 211 north/Patrick Mill Road north.

SR 316 Westbound — Toward Lawrenceville

Left and right turns will no longer be permitted at the existing SR 316 and Patrick Mill Road intersection. All drivers accessing SR 211 north, Patrick Mill Road or Tom Miller Road must use the new Exit 19 ramp.

  • For SR 211 north/Patrick Mill Road north: Use the right lane at the roundabout and proceed right toward SR 211 north/Patrick Mill Road north.
  • For Tom Miller Road or Patrick Mill Road south: Use either of the two left-turn lanes and continue across the bridge. At the second roundabout, take the second exit to reach the third roundabout. Take the first exit for Patrick Mill Road south or the second exit for Tom Miller Road.

Patrick Mill Road/SR 211 Southbound — Toward SR 316

Southbound traffic will shift left onto the new roadway alignment. Drivers will enter the first roundabout and continue across the bridge.

  • For Tom Miller Road, Patrick Mill Road south or SR 316 westbound: At the second roundabout, take the second exit to reach the third roundabout. Take the first exit for Patrick Mill Road and access to SR 316 westbound, or the second exit for Tom Miller Road.
  • For SR 316 eastbound toward Athens: At the second roundabout, take the third exit to use the new SR 316 eastbound entrance ramp.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speed through the work zone and follow posted signs and pavement markings as they adjust to the new traffic patterns.

The traffic shift is scheduled for October 13, weather and conditions permitting.
