Georgia Rep. Bruce Williamson presented members of the Walton County GA Citizen Corps Council with a resolution recognizing the organization for its 10 years of service to Walton County at the Council’s April meeting. On hand to receive House Resolution 762 were founding members Stan Edwards, Donnie McCullough, Randy Garrett, and Rick Mayson.
The resolution notes that the Council has subscribed to the mission of “harnessing the power of the individual through education, training, and volunteer service to make Walton County safer, stronger, and better prepared against the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues and disasters of all kinds.” It also notes that during those 10 years, the Council has sponsored the training of more than 200 Walton County citizens through Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) in conjunction with the professionals of the Walton County Fire Rescue Service, Emergency Medical Service and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. It was also recognized for its participation in civic and business events as well as programs such as WCSO National Night Out Program and other events to help increase citizen awareness and participation.
