Suspect in Madison shooting arrested in Walton County with SERT and K9 assistance

A 17-year-old wanted for questioning in connection with an alleged shooting in Madison Wednesday was arrested in Walton County overnight with the help of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office SERT team and K9 Officer ZOSO.

Dontearious Burke, 17, was taken into custody at a home on 6th Street in Monroe after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation developed information that he was possibly in the area. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office had put out an alert for Burke following the shooting, warning the public not to approach him, but to call 911 if he was seen.

WCSO reported on its Facebook page that ZOSO had helped locate an alleged murder suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, hiding under a bed in the home. WCSO public information officer Major Scott Whisnant confirmed the suspect arrested was Burke.
