If you thought summer was over now that the kids are back in school, you’re in for a surprise. Summer’s last gasp is expected to be a doozy.
According to Weather.com, starting today for the next few days we can expect temperatures to hit the high 90s with heat indices flirting with 100 and above. Although no heat advisories have been issued for the local area at this time, it is possible that could happen in the days to come, so stay tuned.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued the following warning in its hazardous weather statement. “High heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure across parts of north and central Georgia through the middle of next week.”
Starting at 96 today with temperatures reaching 97 by Tuesday in the local area with a heat index of 101, it is important to stay hydrated and to check on friends, neighbors, and pets, who may have difficulty staying cool. Avoid outdoor activity if at all possible and be thankful that fall is just around the corner. This won’t last too much longer.
