Officials urge caution when approaching and to understand the rules
MONROE, GA (Oct. 30, 2025) – Officials have said in recent months that the long-awaited Monroe Bypass would be open by Oct. 31 and true to their word, tomorrow is Oct. 31 and the bypass (officially known as the SR 83 Connector) is now open. However, learning how to successfully navigate it may take a while.
According to a post on Walton County Sheriff’s Office, no sooner had the cones and barricades been removed when deputies had to respond to the first crash.
“Please enjoy this beneficial traffic diversion from beautiful downtown Monroe but understand something very important: The bypass has the right of way through its entirety. Meaning any street that crosses the bypass MUST STOP. Again, the bypass has the right of way and the cross streets of Vasco Adcock, Old Monroe Madison, Pannell and Brush Creek MUST STOP.”
