Update: Two suspects arrested in connection with the 19-year-old Winder man found shot to death

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has made two arrests in connection with the shooting death last week of Lane Michael Bullard, 19, of Winder.

Brantavious Sims, 18, of Winder, and Jayquan Crawford, 17, of Statham, have been taken into custody. Sims was taken into custody at his residence on the night of April 13, 2022, without incident and Crawford turned himself in on April 14, 2022, at the Detention Center.

Sims has been charged with Murder and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Crawford has been charged with Party to the crime of Murder. Both Sims and Crawford are being held at the Barrow County Detention Center and were denied bond.

Winder, GA (April 12, 2022) – The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist with the investigation into the death of a 19-year-old Winder man with multiple gunshot wounds found lying beside a car on a dirt road in Winder.

According to a press release from the GBI, preliminary indications are that at about 5 p.m. on April 11, 2022 officers of the Winder Police Department responded to a 911 call when two motorists discovered the body of a man lying beside a car on a dirt road along the perimeter of City Pond Park in Winder, GA.

“Responding officers found a man, identified as Lane Michael Bullard, age 19, of Winder, with multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that the location of the scene was just outside the city limits and the police department turned the scene over to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office who requested the assistance of the GBI,” Nelly Miles Director of Governmental and Public Affairs reported in the press release.

The body will be taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
