State Route 20 in Walton County near Miller Bottom was shut down for more than 30 minutes Saturday afternoon following a wreck between an 18-wheeler tractor and a Dodge truck.

“A Kenworth tractor traveling north on GA 20, driven by Alexandr Rusu, 28, from, Loganville and a Dodge Ram, driven by Sheldon Arnold, 45, also from Loganville was traveling south when a vehicle ahead of the tractor made an abrupt stop,” said Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class Cal Barton. “The driver of the Kenworth was unable to stop in time and turned to avoid hitting the vehicle, and traveled into the south bound lanes. It was struck in the side by the Dodge, causing it to flip over.”
Barton said the drivers of both vehicles agreed that the vehicle had made such a sudden stop that there was no way the tractor truck could have avoided hitting it. He said the front vehicle stopped and then left the scene.
“It could have been cited for being a contributing factor to the wreck,” Barton said. “No charges were filed against either of the drivers..”
Barton said there was a minor fuel leak and hazmat crews did respond, but it was got under control “pretty quickly.” The road was only closed down for about 30 – 45 minutes while the tractor was righted and both vehicles were towed.
“Mr Arnold went to hospital with minor injury, but he was not transported by ambulance. He was taken by a private vehicle,” Barton said.
