Update: 17 and 4-year-old injured in accident on child’s ATV Tuesday night


Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class Cal Barton said it was a 17-year-old female and a 4-year-old male who were involved in a wreck while riding a small child’s ATV on Park Lake Court on Tuesday night.

“The ATV traveled off Park Lake Court and struck a brick mailbox,” Barton said. “The female was transported to Piedmont Athens and the male was transported to Eggleston, both by ambulance.”

Barton said their conditions are unknown at the moment and their names are being withheld until later. The female is the aunt of the 4-year-old.

Initial Story

Walton County public safety officials were called to an ATV wreck on Parklake Court in the Monroe area of Walton County on Tuesday evening. According to Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Craig League,  the driver was a teenage or adult female. He was not sure of her age. The passenger was a 4-year-old. League said he believed the ATV hit a mailbox.

“The adult patient was transported by Walton County EMS to Piedmont Athens Regional, The child was transported to Egleston by WC EMS,” League said.

The call came in at 8:13 p.m. on April 17, 2018, according to League. Georgia State Patrol worked the accident. League said the injuries were severe, but not likely life threatening.
