Update: 29-year-old Monroe man critically injured in pedestrian accident

 A 29-year-old Monroe man was critically injured on Tuesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while walking alongside Double Springs Road.

According to Sgt. Cory Seymour with Georgia State Patrol, at about 9:00 a.m., a 2015 Chevrolet Express van was traveling north on Double Springs Road just north of Bullock Bridge Road in Walton County when a man walking alongside the road allegedly darted into the path of the vehicle. The 29-year-old Monroe man, was struck by the front of the van. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition by Walton County EMS. The driver of the van, Stewart Richardson, 29, of Watkinsville, was not injured.  

Seymour said the incident is still under investigation by the GSP Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team and Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division.
