WALTON COUNTY, GA (May 23, 2026) – Georgia State Patrol reports that a single vehicle crash on Saturday morning resulted in the death of a Monroe woman.
“On 5/23/2026, at approximately 1040 hours, the Georgia State Patrol was requested to investigate a single-vehicle fatal crash on State Route 10 near Cedar Ridge Road. Their investigation revealed the following: A black Toyota 4 Runner was traveling west on State Route 10 when it left the roadway onto the north shoulder. Once on the shoulder, the 4 Runner struck a tree before coming to a final rest on the shoulder,” GSP Post 46 Commander Richard Thacker reported. “The driver was not restrained and was partially ejected from the vehicle.”
Thacker confirmed that the driver, Chelsea Lumpkin, 32, of Monroe, succumbed to her injuries on scene. Her next of kin has been notified.

WALTON COUNTY, GA (MAY 23, 2026) Walton County Deputy Chief Craig League reports that WCFR personnel are on the scene of a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 78 at Cedar Ridge Road.
“Expect traffic delays there for the next hour or so,” League said.
Georgia State Patrol is working the crash.
